I am an avid user of dry shampoo. Not only does this miracle product save you time, but it also helps to amp up the volume and texture of your hair. Since dry shampoo has been growing in popularity many new brands have been introduced to the market. I myself have tried out many different kinds. Here are a few of my favorites….
Batiste Dry Shampoo
This dry shampoo is one of the originals. It is super cheap and very effective. I am able to find this brand in most T.J. Maxx or Marshalls stores, which means I can buy it at an ever cheaper price! It is also sold in many drug stores and at Ulta. I love that this brand makes tinted sprays for people like me who have super dark hair. This helps to avoid the grey look that you can get from some of the white, powdery dry shampoos.
There are numerous different options to pick from within the Batiste line. They have a couple different collections of dry shampoos including: fragrance, hint of color, nourish, and style. The only downfall with this dry shampoo is that I do notice more build up compared to some of the other ones that I use.
Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo
This one is my holy grail product. Not only does this product do all of the work of a dry shampoo (absorb oil, provide body and fullness, prolonging your blowout), but it also gets rid of the odors in your hair and leaves your hair smelling AMAZING! Sometimes I find myself using this product just because I love the way it makes my hair smell. It is heavenly!
However, this product does go on a little bit thicker than some of the others ones that I use. You do have to make sure that you work this into your hair very well. Otherwise, it will feel like you have some build up at your roots. Every once in a while this dry shampoo does spray out white on to my hair. However, it does work into your hair relatively easily and the white will disappear. This product truly does do amazing things for oily roots and for providing volume.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
This dry shampoo is very light weight and refreshing. It has a nice clean scent to it. To me it almost smells lemon like. I love this dry shampoo because it absorbs so quickly, making it very easy to work into your hair.
This product also sprays out relatively clear. I never have issues with white residue with this dry shampoo. This product is formulated with Living Proof’s patented OFPMA molecule which is why it has virtually no visible residue. I do notice that this dry shampoo does not give me quite as much volume as the detox dry shampoo by Drybar. However, this one is definitely one of the best at absorbing the oil in your hair without causing build up. Living Proof nailed it with this one!
IGK Jet Lag Invisible Dry Shampoo
I just recently started using this dry shampoo, as the IGK line of hair products is newer to me. So far, I have been absolutely loving it! This dry shampoo really is invisible, even on my super dark hair. It also creates a nice texture that helps to add some volume and hold to my hair.
This dry shampoo comes in a 6.3 ounce bottle, which is one of the larger bottles that I have purchased. For that reason, I feel that this product is worth the price (29$). It is super effective at absorbing oil, providing texture, and it will last me longer than some of my other dry shampoos. I highly recommend trying this dry shampoo and some of the IGK products as well, if you have not already.
Tips and tricks when using Dry shampoo:
As with any dry shampoo, some white residue can be expected during application. In order to avoid a dry-shampoo disaster, follow these tips…
- Always shake up the product before use
- Do not spray too close to the scalp (at least 2-3 in away)
- Once applied, allow the product to dry for a few seconds and then work the dry shampoo into your hair with your fingers
