What I have found over the last couple years, is that I spend the most money when I am bored. A main hobby for most women like me, is shopping. I guess it’s just apart of our DNA to shop until we drop. However, this little habit of ours can start to weigh very heavy on our bank accounts.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love to shop and buy nice things, but as with anything good thing in life, it is best to do it in moderation. If you are finding that you too are falling into this spending habit, read on for some simple ways to fill your days with meaningful activities that will cost you nothing.
Hiking is a great way to get out of the house and to spend some quality time with nature. All you have to do is Google “hiking locations” and sure enough, some great options will pop up. There is something so therapeutic about hiking. It’s a great way to get some exercise and to clear your mind. It’s also a great way to catch up with friends. So the next time you decide to plan a date with some friends, suggest hiking.
Plan a Picnic
Plan a picnic and set a date with some friends or with that special person in your life. Find a local park, pack the PB&Js, and you’re all set! How simple is that? It is a great way to spend some quality time with those who you love the most.
Spend a Day at the Beach
If you are lucky enough to have a beach close by, then this a perfect way to spend your day. Grab a towel and some sunscreen and soak up the vitamin D. I would do this everyday if I could. 🙂
Have a Garage Sale
Not only does having a garage sale help to remove the extra clutter in your life, but it can also bring in a little bit of extra cash as well. This is a great way to jump-start some household organizing and de-cluttering projects.
We live in a world where we have all of the greatest recipes at our fingertips thanks to my favorite website, Pinterest. Most of the time when I look up a dessert recipe made from scratch, I already have the entire ingredient list in my kitchen. I can whip up a recipe for a nice after dinner desert. This is a great option if you are someone who loves to bake.
Go For a Bike Ride
Hop on your bike and take a nice ride around your neighborhood. Try a new path and see what new places you can discover. This is a great way to get to know the area that you live in. Also, this is a great way to incorporate exercise into your day.
Listen To a Podcast
There are so many great podcasts out there that speak to many different topics and ideas. It is a great way to learn more about a topic (for free)! Many podcasts are also very inspirational and are a great way to get motivated to make some changes in your life. Check this post, for my two favorite inspirational podcasts to listen to.
At-Home Spa Day
This is a great way to relax after a long workweek. Make yourself a nice bubble bath, pop some champagne, and turn on some relaxing tunes. It really doesn’t get any better than that, does it?
