Heat Up Your Eye Lash Curler
Heat up your eyelash curler for a couple seconds prior to using it. To do this, simply blow your hair dryer onto the curler. The curler should feel warm to touch prior to using it. This makes a huge difference when compared to a cold eyelash curler. If you think about it, you wouldn’t use a cold curling iron either, would you? It is the same concept.
If you do not have an eyelash curler, you should definitely invest in one. This step is probably one of the easiest ways to get longer looking eyelashes. You only have to hold the curler on your lashes for about 5 to 10 seconds. You will see the difference that it makes when you compare your curled side to the non-curled side.
Prime Your Lashes With Vaseline
Vaseline is my secret weapon when it comes to priming my eyelashes. You can use Vaseline before applying your mascara in order to prep and prime your lashes. To do this, simply grab a Q-tip, dip it into the Vaseline, and run it all along your lashes, especially near the inner lash line. Do this right before you apply the first coat of mascara. Vaseline works just as well as an expensive eye lash primer does. It moisturizes and coats the lashes to allow your mascara to apply evenly and with better coverage.
Mix & Match Your Mascara
One thing that I have noticed over time is that to achieve the best looking lashes it is best to use more than one type of mascara. If you think about it, it really does make sense. Different mascaras are made to do different things. So by mixing your favorite lengthening mascaras with your favorite volumizing mascaras, you get the best of both worlds. Don’t be afraid to layer your mascara in order to achieve the best results. Check out this post on the Top 5 Mascaras if you are looking for an awesome new mascara to try.
The Best Way to Apply Mascara
First start with your brush horizontally and apply the mascara from the roots to the tips. While you are moving in that direction, wiggle the brush back and forth. The wiggling of the brush ensures that all of your lashes get fully coated with mascara. Second, turn your brush vertically and coat your lower lashes with the tip of the brush. Be sure to wipe off any excess mascara into the tube for doing this. It is as simple as that!
