It is December and the holiday season is here! I love how the holiday season has a way of bringing family and loved ones together. There is so much cheer and happiness to go around this time of the year. Holiday traditions are something that can truly make the season special and something that you and your family will look forward to for years to come. Visit a Tree Farm
Cutting down a real Christmas tree has been a family tradition of mine for years. It is something that we always look forward to doing the day after Thanksgiving. This year I was excited to extend the tradition even further as my boyfriend and I cut down a tree for our own home as well. This will be our first tree together in our new home. Real christmas trees smell so wonderful. Nothing beats the fresh pine scent in your home. This is a family tradition that I look forward to for many Christmas’s to come.
Baking Holiday Desserts
Christmas cookies are my absolute favorite! It is so much fun to get together with your family to do a little holiday baking. This was always something that I looked forward to as a child. To take it a step further, try having a family holiday bake off. This is a fun way to get everyone involved, and you get to enjoy a bunch of delicious treats as well! 🙂

This is such a fun and simple holiday tradition. Find an ornament for your tree that symbolizes something significant for your family this year. This is the first christmas with my boyfriend Kyle in our new home. For that reason, we got an adorable “new home 2016” ornament.
This is the perfect time of the year to cuddle up and watch your favorite Christmas movies. Bust out the popcorn and make it a tradition to have a family movie night with your favorite Christmas movies.
Christmas Eve Traditions
Christmas eve traditions have become just as exciting as the actual Christmas day traditions. In anticipation for the big day, try exchanging one small special gift on Christmas Eve as a yearly tradition. Other families that I know do fun gift exchanges on Christmas Eve with extended family members. I think this is a wonderful idea as it makes for a very fun family get together.
As a child, I always enjoyed baking christmas cookies on Christmas Eve and then putting them out for Santa. That is a memory that I will never forget. I am very excited to be able to do it with my own kids one day. After all, holiday traditions are all about creating very special memories that will last you a lifetime.
