Seashells are perfect for DIY home décor and crafts. The next time you are on vacation (or if you are lucky enough to live on the beach) be sure to collect some beautiful shells and sea life for some simple and fun DIY crafting.
Vidya from the DIY blog What’s Ur Home Story shows a great tutorial on how to create these beautiful seashell candle holders. Vidya also does a great job explaining how to prepare the shells in preparation for this project. With her candle holders, she uses clam shells which is another great option if you are someone who eats clams or mussels. Just simply save the shells for this project.
If you decide to use the glass vase around the candle, a nice way to add a little decoration is by gluing some rope or twine around the base of the glass. This gives the candle holder a little extra something. All you have to do is start at the base and use your hot glue gun to glue down the string in a circular fashion around the glass. Also, if you are using the glass piece, you do not need the wood base on the bottom. You can glue the shells right onto the glass and it works just as well.
DIY Seashell Wreath
Here is another project that you can create if you have some extra seashells. Glue the seashells around an old wreath frame. Add a letter, bow, or other decor of your choice and you have yourself the perfect beach-themed hanging wreath!
