I found this cabinet at my local Goodwill for about twenty bucks! What a find right?! My boyfriend was so excited when I asked him to bring this home for me. 😉 Right when I saw it, I knew it would make a beautiful cabinet for extra storage in my spare bedroom. It turned out just the way I envisioned, making for a beautiful focal piece in the room. Furniture makeovers are great for tying a whole room together, giving it that extra pop of color that you want.
If you find a piece of furniture that you want to makeover, follow these steps…
Sand down your furniture to prepare it for painting. First, start with coarse sand paper and then follow with a fine grit sand paper. Be sure to always sand with the grain of the wood.
Once you are done with sanding, wipe down the furniture with tack cloth in order to remove all of the excess dust.
Start Painting! –in my case I used a paint sprayer for this project. This saves a lot of time when you are painting big pieces like this.
Adding new hardware –new hardware adds the finishing touch. (I usually find super cute knobs at HomeGoods for real cheap!)
Enjoy your new and improved furniture. Dress it up with the décor of your choice to tie your whole room together.
